The Risk We Face When We’re Highly Motivated

With spring comes a sense of renewal: an opportunity to bring out the best in ourselves and to live our best lives.

We can’t do that if we’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and on autopilot.

In my work with high achieving women for nearly a decade, I have seen a pattern that affects their performance.

  1. At the beginning of the year, they are highly motivated and attack the year with great gusto, giving it all they got.

  2. A roadblock comes (because, life happens) and they push harder.

  3. Sometimes they move through that roadblock on sheer will, and sometimes they don't.

The pattern is to lean in and drive harder.

But, there is a big risk to this pattern.

If there’s no change in the way we approach our life,

we’ll crash and burn all over again.

What I've learned is this:

The #1 reason high-achieving, ambitious women are prone to burnout is because…

of the WAY they APPROACH their work and lives.

There’s a certain set of traits and qualities they ALL have in common that lead them to approach their jobs and life in an unsustainable way.

Here’s a quick test. Does this sound like you?

  • You say “yes” when you really mean “no.”

  • You have a hard time setting boundaries.

  • You don’t speak up for yourself in that meeting or in that relationship.

  • Nothing ever feels like it’s enough.

  • You doubt yourself.

  • You can’t turn your brain off.

  • You push yourself so hard and don’t stop until you’re forced to slow down.

  • Simply enjoying life seems hard sometimes.

If you said “yes” to any or all of the above and are longing for more in your life, I want you to take the next two steps today:
