Your Self vs. Your Cell
Silly question, but go with me here.
Where’s your cell phone?
Of course, you know where it is.
It’s just always there, ready to go, right?!?
You make it a priority to know where it is, and that it’s charged.
But what would you do if your cell phone’s battery was dead?
Wouldn’t you immediately stop what you’re doing and go out and purchase a new battery?
Or ask to borrow a friend’s charger?
On the whole, most of us don’t let our cell phone batteries get low.
We pretty much make it a habit to see that our phone is charged…
because we know that our life will be massively impacted if our battery is dead.
Now, one last question:
Do you regularly….or EVER….monitor your body’s battery as much as you do your phone’s?
That’s what I thought. I was there, too. #SAME
There was a good chunk of my life…a time when I say I was “in the thick of it”; when, in 9 years, we moved 8 times, to 6 different states for my husband's job; when I was raising my young and active daughters and working on a masters degree; that I was running on empty and stretched beyond my capacity.
I wonder if you can relate to some of the thoughts I had in my head at the time:
“I don’t have time to think.”
“My schedule’s not my own.
"I’ll take care of myself…tomorrow.
As high achieving women, we do what needs to get done, don’t we?
We Lean In. We Rise and Grind.
And, because we’re capable of doing A LOT, we tend to DO IT ALL!!!
I want you to know that if you’re feeling like everyone wants a piece of you… YOU’RE RIGHT.
We live in a world of distraction, and if we aren't careful, we can get pulled off course.
So, what do I do differently NOW?
I treat my body like I do my cell phone.
I pay attention to where my body is {I make sure that my head, (my thoughts) are in the same place as my feet.}
AND, I make sure to charge my battery.
I do my best to go to bed at a net zero… meaning the things I’ve done in my day were equally energizing as they were draining. So that my battery can fully charge while I sleep, rather than fighting to bring itself only back to baseline.
I’ve created a process called the Energy Audit.
It’s a diagnostic tool to help identify energy leaks in the day.
Just email me at lisa@livingfullybalanced.com and I'll send it your way so you can do a legit audit of your own energy levels.
I want to challenge you to prioritize your own energy as much as you do your phone’s.
And, if you’d like tools, simple strategies that fit into your busy life, let’s hop on a free 30 minute call. I’ve got a gift at finding energy leaks and I can offer you ways to shore them up.
I promise, you can feel like yourself again before summer’s over!!
Cheers to you and your full battery!
Hugs,
Lisa
