Rescuing My No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day
Have you ever read the book, “Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?”
Last week I had one of those days.
I was scammed! And as a result, I had to make all of those annoying calls to change passwords and put holds on payments. UGH!
While on hold with Huntington Bank I began to daydream, and thought about the most romantic beach in America; Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
In my mind, I was getting off the plane, and instantly I knew everything was different. The temperature wasn’t cold anymore and the dry air of Minnesota was replaced by the sweet smell of salt with a touch of humidity. Such a welcome change.
It was a quick drive from the airport to our waterfront home and even in the dark, I could tell I was entering a space I needed.
I walk into the home and the central air is set to the perfect temperature, a welcome cocktail waits for me and the sweet smell of chocolate creme brulee alerts me that something decadent is in store.
I was so tired that first night, I had forgotten to close the blinds when I turned in, so in the morning I was woken up by the sun. I could finally see outside to the harbor. We were on a peninsula and surrounded by water! We even had our own dock with paddle boards, a private swimming pool and green lawn for our morning yoga class.
As my morning grogginess cleared, I began to smell coffee and something cooking downstairs. A gourmet breakfast that I didn’t have to prepare.
Three more days of this? Is this really what I have to look forward to in February?
No calls. No schedule. Doing what I want. Only sharing what I want. No kids. Just a singular focus on my time away, my time slowing down. Taking a pause for myself. And reenergizing, so I have clarity and direction for my year ahead.
Really, I can’t wait.
This is what The Pause Retreat is going to be like. (And while I do have more to do than the women who will be joining me, I find these sorts of events extremely refreshing and fulfilling.)
Creating a safe space for women so they can just show up as they are… Well, that’s my passion.
Here’s what Jaime Sahlstrom, Financial Advisor at RBC, had to say about her experience at The Summer 2022 Pause Retreat.
“I spent three days with other women leaders at a beautiful venue. We enjoyed delicious food, conversation, and best of all…quiet time. Time to reflect. To exercise, meditate and journal. To breathe. To sleep. It was so powerful.
I found myself asking why it took this long in life for me to take this time to pause!
Moving forward I will incorporate this pause into my schedule. I know that I came back a better leader – both personally and professionally.”
This may seem like a silly question, but could you use a reset like this? A getaway in the middle of February?
Gourmet prepared food. A beautiful home away from home. Opportunity to be at the beach, be on the water, make new friends, work on your goals with your personal coach in house, or just read a book?
Who wouldn’t want this?
Want to find out more? Like who’s going to be there? Or, as a women who doesn’t have down time, you might want to know what you’ll do with all of that time while you’re there.
