Moms and Flamingos
Have you ever wondered why some flamingos are bright pink while others are a much lighter and faded shade of pink or even white?
It's because those dull, faded ones are the MOTHER FLAMINGOS!!!
As they feed and tend to their chicks, they are DRAINED of their color.
The mother flamingos gain their color back as their babies become independent and eat on their own.
Flamingos are the only animal where you can ACTUALLY SEE the brightness being SUCKED right out of them!
I find this to be fascinating. Those poor flamingos can’t hide how very stretched and strained they are, like we tend to do.
If you’re feeling less than “in the pink” lately, I want you to know something—
It’s NOT your fault. AND
It’s YOUR JOB to take care of you.
I know. That’s not what you wanted to hear and it sure does feels unfair.
But I also know that when we accept the truth, we can do something about it.
With Mother’s Day upon us, rather than waiting to receive flowers or hoping that your family is making secret plans to surprise you,
I want you to consider treating yourself with the grace and the love you deserve.
Here’s how that could look and it’s what I’m going to do for myself this upcoming weekend.
Without resentment or underlying desire that things were different,
I’m going to buy some flowers for my kitchen island. Probably from the grocery store, nothing expensive.
But the INTENTION behind the action is what matters.
Because I matter. And SO DO YOU.
I believe it’s only icing on the cake when other people celebrate me. And don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE ICING!
But, the best treat for me… the most content and at peace I’ve ever felt… is when I believe in and own my value.
So, on this weekend, when we are celebrating the women in our lives,
My wish for you is to shower yourself with grace and love. And maybe buy yourself something nice to remind yourself of your worth.
YOUR worth.
It’s inherent, you know.
You didn’t do anything to deserve it.
And you can’t do anything to lose it.
Now, adjust your feathers, turn up the intensity in your coloring and treat yourself well!
And, if you need a one on one, private pep fest… I want you to schedule some time to talk with me. Just some solid conversation about what’s going on and what you’d like to be experiencing instead.
You’re soooo worth it!
Hugs,
Lisa
P.S. If you know that your calendar is getting away from you, and you have no idea how to wrangle your schedule in, schedule a 90 minute, private Ideal Day Intensive. During our time together, we’ll take what you currently have going on, and design an ideal day. You’ll leave with a blueprint so that those ideal days can compound into a pretty darn good year!
