An open letter to people pleasers and perfectionists
I’ll come out and say it.
I was a people pleaser. And a perfectionist.
You are too, if…
You’re drawn to supporting others; to doing everything in your power to help a situation.
You have high expectations of yourself. I mean, if you’re not going to give it your all… you might as well not do it at all. Am I right?!?
I now call myself a “recovering perfectionist with people pleasing tendencies” and honestly, it's this innate ability that inspired me to do what I do today. And I absolutely love my life now. But it wasn’t always that way.
Do you tend to put the needs and expectations of others first before your own, too?
As a pastor's daughter, I was the “good girl” growing up, where I unknowingly strengthened the people-pleasing part of myself. This continued into my adult life, taking on the role of “the glue” that kept my family and home humming along.
Do you find that you’re living in an endless state of autopilot? Neglecting your own needs?
Always giving your utmost, and still feeling like it’s never enough?
It can change with ONE decision.
